About this update
Datamine License Services, and its associated License Manager application, is actively maintained by Datamine and subject to periodic updates to clients under maintenance.
These updates will include either software fixes, new features or a combination, and are detailed below in terms of main messages and more detailed release notes.
Main Messages for License Services Version 6.0
This is a major upgrade to Datamine License Services and includes the following new features:
- Licenses can now be secured to a Machine ID; a unique code that identifies your machine, based on its current configuration. This removes the need for a separate dongle, and replaces the previous HD Serial security option, which is no longer offered by Datamine. Find out more about Machine ID Licensing...
- Extended Logging: system logging now includes additional information,
allowing us to resolve support issues more quickly.
Important: Client/Server Version Compatibility
Due to the nature of important security changes in this update, version 6.0 or later of License Services is required on all client machines running Datamine products produced after August 2022.
There is no requirement to update your server to v6.0 or higher, although this is highly recommended to ensure optimal performance with clients running version 6.0 or later, and to access the latest features available in both domains.
Whilst we strive to avoid compatibility breaks in mission-critical software such as this, it is unavoidable this time. Security changes have been made to better protect both Datamine's and your licensing IP in a change and increasingly aggressive digital world.
